IROCK ENTERTAINMENT | IVY THURSDAYS ‘GLITCH’ REBRAND

I was privileged to be asked to help rebrand the newly relaunched Ivy Thursdays weekly event by iRock Entertainment and Merivale’s Ivy nightclub in it’s new ‘Glitch’ theme. Boasting 3k people through the doors every Thursday it’s one of Sydney’s largest weekly club events, affording patrons all the bells and whistles in extra novelty entertainment such as choreographed dancers in costume, advanced sound, smoke and lighting, Visual Dj’s (VJ’s) projecting bespoke animated content live for the crowd on their ceiling high screen arrangement and excessive decor across the venue, all cohesively tied into the ‘Glitch’ theme. Upon creating the static key visual artwork that served as a visual style guide for all collateral to follow, the key visual was then animated to be incorporated in various moving content. I also created promotional social videos, an animated asset package of videos for the VJ’s to use live on their large screens inside the club as well as DOOH animated posters inside the venue as well as unique bespoke animations of their Ivy Thursdays logo.

Key Visual Static Artwork

I created the Key Visual artwork to align with a moodboard and conceptual inspiration (below) provided by the client. This artwork served as a visual guide for all collateral to follow.

Inspiration from the client:
”GLI.TCH has been inspired by the astral journey of light following AI generated sound waves.
In the layers of the universe between sound and light a force field exists and pulls in those who are listening on the same channel.
Technology, AI, computer generated images flooded with colour fill the space and create a transformative visual experience that reflects and refracts light of every object.”

 

Animated Key Visual for live display on LED Screens in venue

After creating the static key visual, animating the wavey/glitchy background proved a challenging task, hence much was learnt in the process. The animated key visual was used both for other video advertising collateral as well as purely for entertainment value in video assets provided for the VJ’s to project up on the large screens inside the venue infront, behind and above the dj booth facing the crowd. Videos were provided various portrait and landscape formats for their bespoke screen configuration, the largest of them being their ceiling high 4x6m main screen. I also created bespoke glitch logo animations for their Ivy Thursdays logo which were used across video assets in the campaign and provied to the VJs on isolated layers with transparency to layer it over whatever they choose.

I created this promo video to hype up the long awaited Ivy Thursdays Launch Party in newly renbranded GLI.TCH theme for Instagram and Facebook Story and Infeed. This fast paced video incorporates the new glitch theme and animated key visual in the in the endframe.
